Interior Design: Color Theory

Color influences us both consciously and subconsciously. Have you ever felt calm just by looking at the blue waves on an ocean or on alert seeing the red of a stop sign? This is color theory, knowing how color affects your consciousness is a powerful tool, because now you can design your rooms to fit whatever mood you wish to feel when you enter! Here are some basics in color theory to get you started.

Color theory fundamentally revolves around the color wheel and the combinations found around it. Once you pick one color, you can either go to another one right next to it for a more seamless, comforting vibe or go on the opposite side of the wheel for some pop and to bring attention.

Red, orange, and yellow are seen as warm colors, using these in your rooms will bring a sense of liveliness and energy to that room. On the other hand, blue, purple, and greens are seen as cool colors that will bring a soothing, relaxed vibe from the room. Consider the size of your room as well, by using warm colors in a small room could be overwhelming and cool colors and a large room can make it appear empty.

We hope you found this information helpful and hopefully you can apply some of these in your interior design!
