When a hurricane comes, you may be stuck at home, but you may also need to evacuate to a safer area. With that, it’s important to have an emergency supply kit that you can grab and go. Here are some suggested items to include in this bag:
First aid kit
Flashlight (and batteries)
3-5 days worth of water and non-perishable food and snacks (cereal, protein bars, etc.)
Portable charger and relevant cables
Extra clothing and jackets
Medical records and any prescription drugs
If you have a pet, ensure you bring food and water for them too!
Blankets, or any other comfort items for yourself and any children, pets that you have.
Any valuables, family heirlooms, photographs, etc.
You may want to consider a portable radio as well in case of the loss of cell signal.
Ensure these items are all packed in a bag as soon as possible as stores can potentially sell out of certain preparation items during hurricane season, and you also never know when one might come your way. Make sure everyone in your household knows where the bags are held and stay informed on any hurricanes potentially forming in your area!
