South Florida is bracing for a major storm surge and powerful winds from the largest storm in US history: Hurricane Irma.
"Obviously Hurricane Irma continues to be a threat that is going to devastate the United States," Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long said at a press conference Friday morning. "We're going to have a couple rough days."
The storm is one of the biggest ever, dwarfing even Hurricane Andrew. As Floridans prepare for floods in and out of flood zones, evacuate north, fill sandbags, drain the pumps and the stores of hurricane survival supplies, we hope that everyone stays safe and follows all guidelines during this Florida state of emergency.
